Olympic Coverage, Poulin Scores two, Canada wins Gold!

Canada takes home the gold medal here in Vancouver behind two first period goals by Marie-Philip Poulin. Poulin first found the net on a pass from Jennifer Botterill just as a US Power Play had ended and froze the USA defense screening Jessie Vetter's attempt at a save. Her second goal came a few minutes later on a quick shot following the faceoff.

Back and forth play dominated the remainder of the game as both Jessie Vetter for the USA and Shannon Szabados of Canada made several highlight reel saves keeping the puck out of the net. Despite heavy pressure by the US rush at times, Canada excelled at keeping the puck out of the center of the ice and limiting the quality chances. The US forecheck was strong especially later in the game but unable to get the Offense going led to the American's demise.
