The 2011 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented by Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, was awarded on Saturday March 19, 2011 to University of Wisconsin-Madison, Senior Forward, Meghan Duggan of Danvers, Massachusetts. Duggan becomes the third Badger in the past six seasons to win the award.
"Meghan is probably the best two-way player, not only in the country, but in the world," said Mark Johnson, head coach at the University of Wisconsin. "One of the reasons we're in the position we're in right now is because of her leadership and what she does on the ice, and probably more importantly, what she does off the ice."
Duggan, the Badgers captain was at the top of the national statistics for most of the season. Duggan, who was named an NCAA First-Team All-American, was also named the WCHA Player of the year by the conference and Beyond the Dashers.
