Minnesota Duluth forward Pernilla Winberg and CIS forwards, Kelsey Thompson of Queen's and Tori Woods of Guelph are this weeks Player of the Week award winners for their respective leagues.
Winberg had one of her best weekends of her career producing five goals and three assists while taking 18 shots on goal. Her five goals included a natural hat-trick, as Winberg tallied the first four UMD goals in Friday's game. She also added an assist on the fifth goal of the game. During the second game of the series, Winberg scored a power play goal to put UMD up 3-0 en route to a 9-0 win. She also added two assists in the game as UMD swept the last place Huskies and moved into 2nd place in the WCHA.
Thompson and Woods both scored the OT winner in the second extra period to lead their teams to victory in a sudden death OUA quarter-final. Both teams now move on to the best 2 of 3 OUA semi-finals.
