Keys to the Game: The border battle rages on with Bucky and Goldy taking to the ice once more and this time the Badgers are the higher ranked team taking to the road for the first time this season. The Badgers who have largely turned Ridder Arena into the Kohl Center North over the past few seasons are hoping for that trend to continue along with keeping their undefeated streak alive. The Gophers are in a stage of indecision, a place the Badgers knew too well a year ago. However Wisconsin and Minnesota usually have the talent to put on a good show and I for one am looking forward to seeing the stars shine in this battle.

Keys to the Game: In the first ever meeting between these two New York schools separated by just under three hours the similarities are striking. Both teams have young talent looking to break out, solid goaltending, and scoring threats from the blueline. All that's left is to get out there and let the best team win.

Minnesota Duluth @ Bemidji State

Keys to the Game: After their extermination of the gophers from the DECC last weekend the Bulldogs of UMD take to the road for the second time against a team that is looking for signature victories. The Bulldogs hope to elude the target agaist a much improved Beaver squad from a year ago. However with a big home win already this year against Mercyhurst the ladies of BSU are well aware of the task at hand this weekend. If the Beavers can take advantage of the Bulldogs depth participating in Four Nations then we could be in store for a quality matchup. On the other hand if the Bulldogs can pull together as we have seen them do so many times previously then it could be just another trip to Bemidji for Shannon Miller's Squad. Same team, different rink...

St. Cloud State @ Minnesota State

Keys to the Game: In what could become the battle to stay out of the basement the Huskies and Mavericks have built up a history of fierce competition where the team that scores first wins more times than not. An early goal and soild play between the pipes could spell victory for one and defeat for another. However it still eludes this writer who ends up on the winning side of the coin.

Ohio State @ North Dakota
SAT-2:07 PM & SUN-2:07 PM

Keys to the Game: The Buckeyes need to take wins on the road if they are going to survive with the leagues elite. With kids gone to four nations this could be a weekend to forget if neither team can find a rhythm. However if this series plays out on the ice the way it does on paper look for a physical battle with a lot of scoring and many trips to the penalty box. The team that can best utilize the special teams play is likely to win one game and likely take the series.

Mercyhurst @ Niagara

Keys to the Game: If the Lakers take an early lead, then watch out Niagara. If the Purple Eagles catch some lucky breaks then this one could be interesting, however look for the Lakers to stick with what works. Putting the puck in the net often could be a reoccurring theme in this early season CHA battle.
