Cornell pulls the upset 3-2 over #1 Mercyhurst in Overtime

In a hard fought game Catherine While had the last laugh scoring at the 13:14 mark of overtime defeating the #1 seed Lakers and sending Cornell to their first every final in their initial Frozen Four appearance.

The Big Red got on the board in the first period as BTD Defensive Player of the Year Laura Fortino potted a shorthanded goal for her 13th on the season. The Lakers would respond in the second as a seemingly worn down Cornell defense was exposed as Mercyhurst added a fourth line and third line tally to take the lead. Cornell would control play for most of the game however would fail to tie things up until 7:06 in the final period. Karlee Overguard tied the game in the third setting the stage for the overtime Period.

The Lakers fail once more to take home the NCAA Championship after leading in the polls for the majority of the season. The Big Red who emerged in a rather tight ECACHL race to win the conference tournament go to their First Frozen four final in program history.
